As Mark says, always a topic of debate and everyone has an opinion. Opinions are like ar$eholes, everyone has one but you don't usually want to hear it.   Here's mine.   Octane rating of itself

It’s the language of the over 70s and not for you youngsters😂

It wouldn’t be the first time we didn’t have a clue either..

Five star leaded? Cor, that takes me back. Proper petrol that was. The modern stuff is like ‘Diet Petrol’ in comparison. :)

Home Ales used to do a nice pint of 5 star :ahappy:

You can't be serious - it was 'orrible!!

5 Star was their keg beer.  Pasteurised, filtered, pressurised.  Bleurgghh!

And Home Ales are back, not the 5* that was horrible.

Had a pint or two a couple of weeks ago when it was on in my local and it was lovely. They had a bitter and an IPA, Maid Marion Blonde I think. Shipstones is also back and better than last time too.  Home Ales is produced by a micro brewery after buying the brand from Heineken, Shipstones is also brewed in a local micro brewery set up with the sole intention od preserving the name. Fortunately both are doing an excellent job.

There can never be too much beer in the world.

Those are back too, glorious 8 pint kegs of decent beer, not the grotty Watneys of old,  available from all good supermarkets.

Steve, I was 15 what do you expect really? I now possess the rather more sophisticated palette of a proper beer drinker.

Shipstones was better. A micro brewery in Nottingham occasionally brews it again to the original recipe.

Red Barrel?:fear:

Yep, Watney's Red Barrel was the nearest thing to drinking a glass of water.  Weak, flavourless, insipid.  And people actually paid money for it.

I agree, although I remember from those times a well-known expression from around Nottingham:  "Shipstones makes yer arse bleed".

(You can tell that Nottingham is a place of sophistication and culture.)

Indeed it is Steve. Now I'm not quite an adopted Son of Derby yet having been born in Huthwaite nr Mansfield but the beer choice is better generally.

Back to the fuel, my daughter works at a petrol station and has been told to hold off ordering tankers as a price drop is imminent this week,

on the other subject, it was always a choice between the party 4's and 7's against woodpecker and strongbow whilst the adventurous would take them mixed as snake bite,
