Very interesting read this is  , does anyone know the correct torque wrench settings for the 3 hex bolts that hold down the cam shaft / rocker / cylderhead cover ?

Plan to adjust my valve clearence soonish  !

The only thing that needs a calibrated torque wrench is the head itself. Don't get caught up in thinking the ratchet with numbers does anything special, they are mostly just damaging threads because the owners think they no longer have to think or feel. Hand tools are usually short enough to set a natural limit, the people who designed them were clever.

So would that equate to hand tight then 1/4 turn nip, or a 1/2 turn.

I'm renowned for gorilla tightening, so try to err on the easy side nowadays.

I tighten to spec BUT as I tighten, if I feel that it has reached sufficient torque before the Specified threshold, then I let my own common sense and feel prevail.

10 Nm is not very tight at all.

It's not very tight at all and you really don't wanna strip these threads, a whole world of pain awaits... So, I reckon hand tight then 1/4 nip

Half turn might be pushing it. HTH.:flowers:

I'd use the smallest allen key available and finger tight with a bit of a tweak for luck. don't tighten then put another part turn on as the thread will pop out eventually.
