Spark plug access integra nc700 ??

I’m up to 32k on my integra nc700. It was serviced about a month ago. Today For the first time ever it started miss firing and cutting out . It was very wet, but I’ve driven lots of times in bad conditions and this hasn’t happened before.

I took it out tonight and it seemed fine.

My thought is that the ht lead connections got wet  or possibly arced. However I’m ashamed to say I can’t see where the spark plugs are located. There is no instruction in the manual. Alternatively maybe a bit of moisture in the tank?

Anyway I’ve had the front cowling off before which doesn’t help. Can someone tell me which panels on the integra need to be removed to get access to the plugs.

Cheers

Basically you just need to remove the front black panel in front of the engine. It has a load of the panel fasteners which you release by gently turning a cross head screwdriver in them while allowing the pin to come out, in other words don't push on the screwdriver, just a 1/4 turn to undo it. A coupe are almost hidden, up at the top front, plus there are a couple under the front edge at the bottom. You just need to search around the edges to find them all. Then there are 2 allen head screws going into the front face of the panel, one each side, just near the horn on one side.

You then need to ease the edge lips out from the fairing panels (slightly more tricky getting it all back in, but easier with practice). The edges should all meet up neatly, if they aren't lining up neatly you probably haven't got the edge lips properly located.

The plug caps go into the cylinder head directly from the front, pretty obvious with the front panel off,  you can just see the caps without taking the panel off but can't access them.

The most likely cause of the misfires is water getting onto the HT leads and plug caps, there have been a few reports of misfires as you describe due to arcing at the plug cap. I'm not aware of a cheap replacement cap suitable for the NC, ther may be one. You can check the range of NGK caps to see if there's anything which would do the job. Try here http://www.gsparkplug.com/ignition/spark-plug-caps

Something like http://www.gsparkplug.com/1x-ngk-resistor-spark-plug-cap-sd05fga-8683.html  or http://www.gsparkplug.com/1x-ngk-resistor-spark-plug-cap-xd05f-black-8072.html or http://www.gsparkplug.com/1x-ngk-resistor-spark-plug-cap-xd05f-black-8072.html or http://www.gsparkplug.com/1x-ngk-resistor-spark-plug-cap-l05ea-6667.html

might just do it (I'm guessing, need to check dimensions etc, but a sensible price compared to Honda prices), quiet a few contenders to consider. They vary by angle and some are for threaded terminals on the spark plug and some for bullet terminals (bullets can be put onto threaded ends, some plugs have fixed non-removable bullets). NGK's website may have dimensions.

Well that was very easy.

No problems taking off the black panel behind the front wheel.

I don’t think one of the ht caps was fitted properly after the service.

anyway cleaned everything up and all seems to be running well. Engine sprayed with a jet washer and no miss firing.

Thanks embee and viva integra
