Chain monkey

Len, there’s been a couple of threads on the chain monkey. Generally seemed to boil down to it being a useful device for the ‘less confident’ and a bit pointless for the more experienced.

Hi Tex, I have been out of the loop for a while, because of my leg problems. Less confident is me,  so may buy one....Ride Safe.

Hi Len, just make sure you use it on the tightest spot of the chain. It’s a nifty enough little device, should work well for you.

I got a chain monkey this week and used it to adjust the tension on my integra.

Super easy to use and works very well.

I used the chain monkey for my second ever attempt on chain adjustment after I realised I might have misaligned the wheel after the first adjustment, but I wasn't that impressed with it. To me using this tool cause more guess work than using a measuring tape. I can't figure out how tight I should set the chain, how tight is "no free play".

does my disappointment on the tool put me into the more experienced bucket?
