The Marshall exhaust is rotten at the end so I cut it off, might run it as is, should sound a bit fruity!

Wheres the hands over ears emoticon?

Found it... 🙉

It’s such a shame that finding an OE exhaust is like hunting rocking horse poo.

To me they are what defines the bike.

OE exhausts (or at least a very good replica) are available from Dave Silver's. I agree they do define the bike. They are also very many of our English pounds.😳

Ah, I stand corrected. I bet those are still cheaper than the Honda item though.

I’ve just had a look... £630. If I was restoring one, I think I would bite the bullet.

It’s a CB400F (four cylinder). A brilliant (in it’s day) little sports bike. I have a massive soft spot for the model with many happy memories.

Me too. A Great bike in its time, rode one for many years, still one of my all time favourites. :D

(Seeing it in bits looks familiar as well - you might as well have a go at that notorious timing chain in the middle of the engine while you are at it!)

Bit more done this week, stripped to it's bones, had to cut the centre stand off (normal for a 400/4), swing arm stripped, new shock bushes ordered and bronze pivot bushes, started work on the steering stem, I'm becoming very friendly with Mr Silver! Pleased with the progress considering an ill Wife and a very poorly Dog!

Stubborn centre stand, swinging arm and steering stem.

All good inside apart from the usual seized cam chain tensioner.
