KZ650 Birthday coming!

Recommended Posts

Seeing Chris’ Post on his 42 yr old Honda, made me go out and start working on the Kawi’  We will have been together for 40 years next month and I promised that she would be road worthy this year.

I will be replacing the rim and spokes while keeping the original hub and replacing the swing arm so I can mount a chain guard, as the last one was ripped off by a broken chain along with the mount attached to the swing arm on a backroad rip, years ago.

If the rear wheel works out well, I will do the same with the front.

Let the fun begin!

I bought the KZ650 a replacement swing arm for our 40th anniversary.

I decided I’m going to clean up the inside of the rim of rust and respoke it with fresh spokes.

My z650 has been sitting quietly in my shed since 2009  occasionally I would fire her up  last time was more than 3 yes ago  guess what ,jump leads connect ed via a spare battery ,small amount of choke twiddling she fired up on a four pots  , 10 year old pre ethenol petrol , I sometimes can't get a modern bike with 3 month old petrol to start , I hate ethanol at 5% we are due to get 10% very shortly if it isn't already here

Rims are in and new spokes are in transit. Going to sand the swing arm this weekend, as my brother-in-law found me the matching red of the frame. Progress!3C8F2E18-0514-4601-A6EE-19B64BA6A745.jpeg.99f3f4eb480ecd6549b916a6e8b53002.jpeg
