Disconnecting the battery

Hi all,

i have a gadget that that needs to be fitted to the battery terminals on my NC750X

does disconnecting the battery carry any pitfalls I need to be aware of?

i ask because I disconnected the battery from my works van a few weeks ago to fix something and it ended up having to be towed away for repair because the electronics got their knickers in a twist.

Undo the earth first (-). That way you can touch the positive all day and not get a belt. Do it the other way and positive touched to the frame gives you a welding set just where you don't need it. Reconnected + then -.

Keep the ignition off through out.

Do the terminals up pretty tight. Loose ones spark.

No other real pitfalls I can think of.

Modern cars have way too much electrical "stacked fish" that isn't run through the ignition. Jiggle the negative lead as you connect it at the resulting spikes wreck the poorer sort of diode.

I had the same concerns when I changed my battery a while back, too many memories of car stereos needing a code I could never find!

But do it like Andy says and you'll have no trouble 👍

You have to reset the clock which seems to give some people trouble
