riders in the storm 475
Side stand or centre stand...? There's a kill switch when it's in gear I think on the side stand, possible problem with that ? Can't think what the issue would be with a centre stand ? Link to post
Andy m 23,502
You mean the sidestand? Pull the wire off the cut out switch and see what changes. You may have to jump the two pins, but if that restores full function you have a dodgy switch. They are rotary things built round the stand pivot, so not the most reliable. Andy Link to post
Guest Magnos82
Side stand I ment Link to post
embee 7,288
The switches themselves are common on hundreds of Honda bikes, maybe other makes too but definitely Hondas of all descriptions. What varies is the length of wire and any clips etc attached to it. If you need to replace them, and yes they can be troublesome but considering where they live they are surprisingly reliable, you can use a second-hand one from another model. Have a look on the auction site and try to assess what sort of length of wire is attached, as long as it's equal to or longer than yours you can happily use it (with cable ties as appropriate or shorten it if you wish). They can be picked up for single figure ££. 1 Link to post

Graham NZ 1,186
The DCT bikes should start on the side stand but won't go from N if the stand is down. Do you mean start the engine or start to ride away? Always go to N before stopping the engine. Odd things can happen when restarting if you don't. Edited November 10, 2019 by Graham NZ 2 Link to post
