Blackmoon181 19
Looking for some help with the handbrake caliper. was prepping the NC750x for its MOT and decided to remove the handbrake calliper to take a look at the pad thickness. once i took it off , one of the pads came away from the metal pad backing. No biggie i thought. however the two pad retaining bolts have seized. have started to round them off but may be able to save the caliper if i knew how to remove it from the cable. Will need to do this anyway if i source a second hand one. had a look at the manual, can disconnect the cable from the caliper but can't remove the cable from the caliper bracket. looks like its pressed in there. don't want to chew the cable up. Any suggestions? Cheers, Nick Link to post
sterling01 197
Could this help? My scanner is not brilliant, but this is from my Honda Shop Manual ParkingBrake.pdf 1 Link to post
Blackmoon181 19
thanks a lot, have the shop manual to hand it wasn't completely clear. i've had a look on second hand cables on the internet and it appears its just a push fit albeit a close one! a little bit of rust and the spring tension make it appear stuck in. a pair of vice grips and some penetrating fluid will release it. Have glued the pad back in case it gives me any bother for the MOT . Given the price of second hand calliper. i'll ask my friendly machine shop for a favour and get them to drill them out if i can't get them off. Link to post
