Coolant level check

For some reason just checked my coolant level in expansion bottle and its on low line ( engine cold ) 

 

Normally check when bike is hot and level has always been on high line or slightly above 

 

Will check again tomorrow after a run , just wondered if its was normally for the level to raise form min to max when engine up to temp ?

 

If I need to top up do you fill to max when cold ?

I think coolant usually needs to be checked when cold, but check the manual.

Sounds about right that's why it's called an expansion chamber, when the water heats it expands and pushes out into the chamber and when it cools it's drawn back into the engine/radiator. So it sounds good to me.

Checked today when hot coolant level is on minimum

 

When cold coolant level about 1/2 inch below minimum

 

Will get some coolant to top up will top up to middle when cold 

Probably only needs 200 MLS 

 

Coolant was changed 1000 miles ago so probably just found a level after use

Make sure it is silicate free
