China 11 Posted April 2 Hello hive mind i need your help, some one broke into my givi Honda top box & I managed to get a replacement lock barrel & the local locksmith matched the barrel with my key! Amazing! now some little bugger tried to nick my bike & has smash the ignition, I’ve got it replaced with a new key & Honda also replaced the front trunk. but for the life of me I can’t remember where I got the replacement barrel for my top box & my local Honda dealer said they don’t do it fors any one know where I might get one? Having two similar keys is doing my head in! TIA! Share this post Link to post
slowboy 11,514 Posted April 2 You can do it yourself, take the top box lock to pieces and rebuild it (re order the leaves inside) to fit your ignition key. There aren’t as many variations as you’d think.😁 Share this post Link to post
China 11 Posted April 3 Ah okay sounds good, any idea where to get the leaves? Share this post Link to post

You can usually shuffle them around to make them work with your key. Sorry I was so slow to respond @China, i hadn’t realised there was a reply. Edited April 4 by slowboy Share this post Link to post

One day two of them discovered that their house keys were identical. This prompted a comparison with others from the same estate and we found there were others with the same key. One lad decided to knock on a few doors and discovered that his key fitted every 5th house or so. It seems builders bulk buy locks and some builders only bought a limited number of different locks.
