Tyre damage limits

Hi folks,

Can anybody direct me to some info on how to tell a tyre is repairable or not.

Done a pre ride check tonight and found a small triangular shaped stone 8mm long in my tyre.

It's made this hole. I'm not sure on the limits of tyre repair.

Thanks in advance

Not an issue. The stone didn't actually puncture the tire rather than just penetrating the tread. It is OK and nothing to worry about.

You need to stick something in the hole that you can measure to see how deep the hole is than subtract from the tread thickness  and see what you get if not in the carcass good to go but remember the tire carcass is like 6mm thick so even 1mm in the carcass no worry

OK great. This was kind of what I was hoping/thinking. I pulled the stone out easily with my fingers so I  don't think it went that deep, but will check it. Just wanted to see other peoples views.

Also, it that a tyre wear indicator to the right of the mark?

Cheers

The hole is just in the tread, don't need to stick anything. The carcass is undamaged and nothing should be made.

Hi,  You will be getting new tyres for free in about 700 more miles anyway, just go back to the dealer and say they have worn out too soon and Honda will authorise then to be replaced.  Choose something decent like Pilot Road 4s.  See the tyre thread in NC Talk if you have several hours to read it all.  :geek:
