Throttle action

Since I got the bike I've never found the throttle action that good, especially in traffic. Often seemed like you had to turn it closed rather than rather than rely on the return spring.

 

Noticed this morning that where the cables (metal guides) leave the twistgrip they didn't look to be at a natural angle.

Released the locknuts, twisted the throttle a few times to let the guides line up themselves.

Tightened the locknuts & hey presto the throttle action is much better, seems lighter & closes properly.

 

Of out now to try it in the real world.

I found the throttle control quite good, but it's something to practice for a while especially with new bike

as it;s important part of riding skills.

Anything major I would, but I'm not riding 50 miles each way for a simple little adjustment.

Yes, if that's the case.

 

I was merely saying that if there's any doubt, take it back. Last thing you need is a dealer saying you've made it worse and therefore invalidated any potential warranty claim.

Well while we were out riding Saturday i started to notice throttle was not returning at all unless i physically turned it back   , i  meant to ring dealer first thing Monday morning,however after a long days ride and now down with the flu and off work, i rang the dealer today they told me not to ride the bike and call out Honda asst ie the  AA to collect the bike and bring into them (Dobles) ,the AA  turned up within 20 minutes, (i was impressed  ) and what was happening as the chap from the AA was a mechanic was that the Honda heated grips which i had turned on for the first time on Saturday whilst out, had caused the hand grips to slid against the bar end weights that caused the throttle to hold / stick against the bar ends  after a minute of aggressive pushing on this grip to slide it back to where it should be only about 3/5mm the throttle functions perfectly this is something to look out for in future if the throttle is not returning on its own and if you have heated grips fitted, this could be one way to  another item to add to the list of checks to resolve an  throttle return issue other than the cable.  

all info helps  going to have to keep my eye on this one when using the heated grips.
