chain change

Don't use split links on modern "O-ring" type chains for permanent use. They can sometimes be used temporarily (to get to a workshop to have a rivetted link fitted for example).

The alternative to fitting a rivetted link is to get an endless chain (i.e. already factory rivetted just as all teh other links), and drop the swingarm out to fit it. If you have a centre stand this is in fact not a difficult job on the NC, no special tools required, and doesn't take very long (maybe a couple of hours if you haven't done it before). It also gives the opportunity to grease all the bearings in the linkage and swingarm.

I fitted a chain which I rivetted myself, but if doing it again I'd drop the swingarm out and fit an endless chain.
