    Showing RPMs too high

Thanks for advice, will check back of instrument panel.

    Showing RPMs too high

Either sensor failing or a plug somewhere is not properly seated or dirty. Also worth checking the multi plug at the back of the instrument panel as that can corrode and cause odd effects. interesting the Engine management light isn’t being triggered by an out of spec reading. I would be tempted to look at the instrument panel multi plug first. A lot of body panels to strip off to get to it if I recall correctly.

    Showing RPMs too high

Sprockets sizes are correct. It is manual. Showing too high rpms not only when driving, but also when standing.

Are the front and rear sprockets the correct size? Yes think it should show the gear selected. Is the SA a DCT or manual?

BTW does 2015 NC750SA should show gear in the dash? Asking because it doesn't show

    Showing RPMs too high

For example: when engine is in working temperature - it shows ~2500rpm, driving at 60km/h in 5th gear it shows 7000rpm. And i it allows to rev way more even it is reaching scale limit. Motorcycle had small crash and I'm wondering maybe one of sensors is not in correct position, or something similar...

Out of curiosity, how are you measuring the “correct” rpm, and over what range?

    Showing RPMs too high

Once on my ER-6N I rode through a colossal downpour and for about a week afterwards the rev counter was all over the place. After about a week some sensor or contact finally dried out and all was fine.

    Showing RPMs too high

An interesting one; I don't recall that issue arising with an NC. I used to have a Moto Guzzi. One evening I started the engine and rode off and was alarmed to discover that the engine appeared to be revving much higher than usual (about double) according to the rev counter, yet the clutch was not slipping nor did the engine appear to be running faster than normal in any gear. Weird. It turned out to be that on switching the ignition on I had started the engine a little bit too soon, so that the ECU diagnostics had not completed the self-test before the engine was started. Fitting rear shock.

I probably will once I've done a few more miles on a wider variety of roads. I rode it about 130 miles back home on Friday, mainly motorway and dual carriageway and it was obviously way better than standard, the rear is spot on now I've wound out a couple of turns of preload but the front is still a touch firm for my preference so I'll wind out the preload on the forks too. I'm sure once it's dialled in properly for me it'll be great.

    Showing RPMs too high

Hi, Recently bought NC750S 2015. And just now noticed that dashboard shows way too high RPMs than it really is. Is there a way how to calibrate it? Or any other solution available?

Hi @VinnyB have you/will you be writing up a review on your Nitron set up as I would be as interested as I am in learning about @oldwisedude's impressions of his Maxton set up in due course👍I had planned to change my NC this year but if I can improve further on my HyperPro set up I may keep it a while longer.

Nitron wil now have front and rear supension mods available for 21- NC750X. They used my bike as development bike, they fitted cartridge front and NTR1 rear shock with HPA rear.

I’ve got Maxton front and rear on my 2018 DCT. Fortunately, fitted by previous owner. Huge improvement, the stock front end particularly, was bloody awful.

    Fitting rear shock.

I've been following threads about suspension upgrades for years, relating to every bike I've owned, because the stock suspensions of those bikes have always been compromised by manufacturer's budgets to keep the on-the-road price competitive. We are very limited with upgrade options for the NC range. Neither K Tech nor Nitron list NC applications. Regarding Hyperpro, their fork kit does nothing to upgrade the crude valving and their rear shock cannot be serviced in the Uk - it has to go back to Holland. In the past I have fitted K Tech, Nitron, Maxton and RaceTech to v

You're right about fluids, I just bought a couple of bottles coolant, £20 as near as damn it. Seems outrageous, oil is the same.

    16,000 service

I’ve had 5x valve clearance services across 3 bikes. All were £500+ apart from the first valve clearance service I had for the NC which was around mid-late 2021 and it was £300. I used the same garage for the 2nd valve clearance June 2023 and it was £500. i think the first one was a one off as the garage was still establishing itself and because it was the tail end of the shenanigans in 2020. dont think you’ll be saving as much as you think. The price of consumables (oil, spark plugs, coolant etc) seems to have skyrocketed. I doubt you’ll get much change from £100 f

I thought the same. 16k service is lots of inspection, plus presumably adjust if needed, so i suppose they assume adjustments will be needed and price accordingly. But only replace items are oil, filters, all 3 on a dct. Mine is 2500 miles off a 16k but with my mileage I might be toasty before the service comes up, if i am still around I shall do it. 😁

Cylinder head gasket? I think (hope) you mean valve cover gasket....I reused mine as I have done on all the bikes I've owned with modern gasket materials.

I will try some independent garages in my area and see the difference in price, it must be at least a couple of hundred pounds cheaper than main dealer.

    DCT error causing no start?

an update. I bought the only suitable ECU (and lockset) on that auction site, and the dealer who supplied the bike gave me something towards the cost . All works fine now! been up and down the private lane I live on a few times. The bike is surprisingly pokey, more than I thought it would be. I needed Traction Control, and it doesn't have it! Now I am buying parts to fix the damage caused... luggage box itself is a little hard to find but the one I have is ok for now.

    16,000 service

MInd this cost includes a cylinder head gasket as well. Depends on the condition of the existing one and it could be used again. The dealer deducted that cost from the bill of materials for my 16k mile service. Left the bike with them overnight and picked up 24hrs later. With my mileage, it won't be another eight years before it needs done again + proper service of oily bits so I considered it cost effective for me.
