You could try reading an article on castor / rake and trail which explains why a wheel that can pivot can oscillate. Try shifting yr weight forward or back, removing or adding panniers etc. Have you adjusted the rear shock as that could alter rake and trail. Strange thing is I've had many bikes and not noticed any shake when slowing down, and i live at the bottom of a hill so have occasionally taken both hands of the hbars to remove gloves whilst slowing!

Yes. I sent my forks to Maxton and they did all the internals. They set the pre-load based on my weights. The adjusters are located internally, accessible with the top caps removed. But the sags seem to be correct.

Thanks. MIght get my forks done the same one day Did Maxton make the internal fork mods? No external fork preload adjusters then?

As with most stock bikes, our NC's suspension is a compromise. Honda and Showa have cunningly attempted a one-size-fits-all system, using progressive springs and unsophisticated damping, to keep costs down. The bikes tend to be under-sprung and over-damped. To address these shortcomings, I fitted the Maxton SD20 front fork legs and the NR4 rear shock to my 2023 NC750X-DCT two days ago. Installation was straightforward. Any leaks from the forks? When I rebuilt my forks there was hardly any fluid left in one leg and it tended to waggle a bit under hard acceleration.

Agreed, every bike I have had exhibits this when hands off the bars, but it was always so slight if I had my hands on the bars I couldn't feel it.

Unlikely but losing a wheel balance weight (black stick on in my case) would also cause shakes.

@Grumpy old man, every bike Iāve had has done a version this, usually around 40 to 35 mph slowing down with hands off the bars. Including my NC. Having a load up in the top box and or panniers can make it worse, it usually does. A heavy tank bag can improve it. Itās part of the compromise the designer has between stability and easy steering, the relationship between rake and trail. In simple terms, long trail more stable, heavier steering, short rake light steering less stable. Thanks Trev, it's been there a while that I know of but it might have been there even before just wasn't aware as I hadn't removed my hands from the bars. It's had different makes of tyres that hasn't made a difference but I've never played with the pressure on the front always 36psi. I'll have a play. Thanks.

Almost every bike I've owned has had a 'shake' when slowing down (it's hard to speed up with no hands on the bars ). Usually somewhere between 35 and 50mph, depending on the bike. Just let the bike ride through it and it'll sort itself out. A 'shake' on accelerating, with hands on the bar, on the other hand is definitely an issue!

Was the shake there before the new tyres were fitted? In my experience, unless the bike basically has a 'twitchy' setup, which the NC does not, then it will be tyres and/or pressures causing it.

I have it and have used it but I haven't had issues with DCT or ABS, yet.. I have a feeling it might not report DCT or ABS stuff as the engine data it reports is generic and as far as i can tell not model specific. For example it has VTEC parameters which will only apply to a small number of bikes. But it might still report DTC codes for DCT.
