Guest Mac750
Following Andys comments re swearing whilst hit by flying road debris. Here is some interesting information regarding the use of swearing in stressful situations which I gleaned from a recent copy of the Lancett. Human behavioural scientists at Oxford University carried out an experiment with students and a bath of freezing ice cold water. (Bath, water and students in the same sentence ) They attached electrodes to the top of the cranium and monitored the stress levels and hormonal changes within the brain whislt the students got into the freezing ice cold bath. Group A could swear. Group B could not swear. and they used a guy with Tourette syndrome for control analysis. The results are conclusive . Group A used swearing during the painful emmersion into the iced water bath. Hormonal changes was recorded as minimal and stress levels only increased slightly. Group B couldn't use swearing and results showed stress levels increased dramatically during iced water immersion and hormonal production also increased dramatically. And the guy with Tourette syndrome ?, Well didn't give a flying #%$# (Ah get my coat time again then). Edited December 20, 2016 by Mac750 Good taste and decency Link to post
