Parking Brake has become weak

The parking brake is the same as a Silverwing scooter, I brought new pads because they had very little life left,,,,WRONG when the new pads arrived they were the same thickness as the existing ones. They are only a couple of mm thickness new.

Thinking about it they should never wear out.

Exactly! How will they wear if only ever in contact with a stationary disc?!

Be careful before rushing out and buying new ones Mike?

Yes, they shouldn't but they have both from the adjustment needed and looking at them so must have been on or catching. For a tenner I'll have and fit new ones. Good opportunity to give it a clean up too.

Like all sliding calipers they do need a bit of grease now and then, proper brake grease mind you and NOT copperslip, mine have been done twice in 63800 miles but I hardly ever use the handbrake unless I stop on a slope.

The Integra does have top adjustment too, enough to take out more slack that ever you would need if the pads were down to the backing.

I think I have used it twice so far with a 50:50 ratio of remembering to release it before riding off!

Don’t you observe your warning ⚠️ lights dear chap 🤔🤔

Thanks for this thread.  I had to adjust mine and with this info and the service manual page, easy.  My question - I adjusted the cable end.  I did this on the center stand and rotated the barrel (after releasing the lock nut) until I couldn't turn the rear wheel manually.  What is considered a "minor" adjustment?  I have exposed about 1 cm of the thread.  Should I be looking to do the rear wheel "major" adjustment instead?
