Guest BlackSilverNC700X
Hi all, for those who went for the first oil change, what type of oil do you use? Are we suppose to use fully syn engine oil or mineral oil? Link to post
Guest scrumpymike
My dealer used fully synthetic. Link to post

Guest gunshot72
The Honda recommendation for the NC is semi synthetic 10W/30. This makes sense because it is not a high stress engine and therefore fully synthetic will have no benefit. Fully synth is also more expensive so your wasting your money. For long distance riding a semi-synth is generally accepted as a better choice. Personally I use Castrol Power 1 4T 10W/30 part synthetic in my NC700X, and Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10W/40 fully synthetic in my higher stressed Triumph Street Triple R. Guest jj69
wow, only 75 Euros? I was expecting more, phew It's close to the average price calculated from what users on a french forum declare. Labor cost is offered by Honda here. Link to post
Guest Blackbird
My dealer used 20W50 dino oil and told me to come back at 6,000 km to get synthetic put in. Link to post
ted 5,743
Good advice there Blackbird, I wouldn't use fully synthetic oil until the engine is well run in. Link to post
Guest BlackSilverNC700X
Thx for all reply. Why must use 20W50 instead fully synthetic oil? Link to post
ted 5,743
No, I'd use a 10w30 or a 10w40 mineral oil for the first 8,000 miles or 12,000 kilometers. Then go on the same grade semi or fully synthetic. Link to post
Guest Blackbird
I have no idea why the dealer put such a heavy oil in there. And it's winter here in Australia. Edited June 25, 2012 by Blackbird Link to post
Guest ddg414
Run-in period (2500km)recommend the use of base oil or mineral oil. Run of frequent oil changes.Synthetic oil is just a waste of money. Run-in period too .Use your favorite oil. Link to post
