MikeBike 5,006
The steel chain slider screw and oval washer (items 12 and 27) sit on top of the swing arm and form a little well to colllect muck and moisture causing mine to go rusty. Maybe worth a look on your bike to see if they are also rusting up. Before it rusted up completely and wasn't able to be removed from the swing arm (Lyn's observation when he saw my bike) I decided to replace top and bottom with new ones. They cost peanuts (was <£3 for 2x 12 and 2 x 27) but they are very lightly painted, so gave the new ones a few good extra coats of spray paint, covered them in grease, and the covered the top one over with black Duct tape to keep the muck away and water out. They are cross headed but are JIS not philips, so before I ruined the head with a philips driver, bought some 3 Vessel JIS bits also for about a fiver from this supplier in S Wales who also kindly reduced the postage to £1.50 for my three bits. https://www.dateelectronicsupplies.co.uk/bits-3002r25/view/502 https://www.dateelectronicsupplies.co.uk/bits-3001r25/view/501 https://www.dateelectronicsupplies.co.uk/bits-300025/view/500 Note they say Philips and work with Philips but are in fact JIS specification so work properly with the JIS fasteners on Hondas. Needed a small socket set to get in as space is tight. Edited March 29, 2018 by MikeBike 1 Link to post
