Lloyd, I have that exact tool. Come and borrow it if you want. I found it to be very good.

PS I just used an angle grinder to remove old chain so don’t know how it performs in that respect, but in terms of putting on new chain and getting the rivets right it was excellent .

How strange to be talking about this tool. I ordered one (not sure of the make) from that auction site which expected to be delivered today. My new chain awaits fitment. It came with rivet link and split link. Undecided which one to use to be honest. I've used a rivet extractor before but never used a tool to put them back. Should be fun :hyper:

Always off via the grinder for me. Seems silly to risk a delicate specialist tool when a general one works. Take off the most safely accessible head off then drive through with a punch. No need to cut two side plates as I once saw done! 

 

I'd have no problem with a clip link on an NC, but this tool does look to make rivet a more controlled process for those of us who don't use them every week.
