Ozzieflyer 15
Thanks for such a detailed topic. Great job. 👍 Having a limited mechanical knowledge, did your mechanic just get the injectors cleaned or replaced the dirty one? If cleaned, is this something that the mechanics send away to be done or is it something that can be done with special tools? cheers, oz. Link to post
Tony Roche 17
Thanks Oz! My mechanic has a special machine with cylindrical chambers that clean the injectors with special fluid. I got him to clean both. He charged me £30 mate's rates! The machine and fluid are expensive apparently. I don't know how many bike mechanics would have this kind of equipment. He's in Berkshire and I can pass on his details to anyone who is interested. 1 2 Link to post
Tony Roche 17
I did enquire about the price of new injectors but I was told they're in the region of £150 each. My mechanic has only ever bought one new one. Cleaning usually does the trick Link to post

Tony Roche 17
Just based on a rough check with the gauge, fuel consumption is better too. Link to post
MikeBike 5,005
Any clue as to why one got so dirty? Link to post
Tony Roche 17
My mechanic reckons a dodgy batch of fuel fouled the injector........but why only one? 1 1 Link to post
