Chain lubricant

Hi, sure it's been discussed numerous times previously but can 80w oil be used in my auto chain oiler, would it be safe regarding the chains o rings.

I thought chain oilers needed quite a light oil, but 80w sounds like gear oil and fairly heavy, should be fine on O Rings as far as I know.

Not sure it will flow through an auto chain oiler.

I just use cheap engine oil flows through the loobman oiler no problem, gear oil might be a bit thick especially this time of year ( becoming cooler) but it won't do the chain any harm in fact the opposite if it flows.
