Hi guys,

Its time to change both of my stainless steel disks on my Honda NC750X from 2015.

Start an online searching for the pair and found very diferent price tags: from 98 Euros to 400 Euros.

Lower as 98 Euros: https://www.amazon.com/Arashi-NC750X-Motorcycle-Accessories-INTEGRA/dp/B07HKJJ324

Or the Brembo well-known brand: https://www.nc700shop.com/en/braking/396-brembo-front-brake-disk.html

Any thoughts on this matter?

Best price-quality ratio for the disks?

Best online shop in europe?

Your own experience about cheap disks.

One last remark:

All the work is done by myself as usual.

I got a Sunstar replacement disc for my old CBF250 from the auction site. £30, I think. It was well made and worked fine. The bike expired soon after but I'm happy to have it as a replacement for my new CBF. Made in China, I'm sure. My FJ could do with new discs but because of its weight & speed I'd likely go for EBCs or similar.

You can’t beat the Chinese stuff. I stupidly bought an oil filter from our Honda dealer, 17 pounds. It was labelled ‘genuine Honda part’ underneath it said made in China.

Same as oil : buy the lowest cost item from a company you've heard of. Probably Sunstar.

Brembo are selling you a warm feeling. The Chinese operating without any supervision will probably get the basic disc right (cheap steel is better) but things like bobbins can be rubbish.

I doubt anyone makes what we actually want for road use: plain steel (or cast Iron) without cheese grater holes or silly shapes.

Sunstar are a good company and they make the OE discs AFAIK but they get faked a lot.

The ABS discs are different part number too.

If you go secondhand fit them and make sure they are not warped before giving feedback.

You can get Brembo discs at a good price from here, although there my be import taxes to pay now for UK buyers.

Out of interest I priced up a pair of floating discs for the front of my FJ1200. Yamaha £542 (no longer available from Fowlers), Brembo £464, EBC £386 (inc pads), Comet £160 (straight outta China, I'm guessing) Given that the old girl & myself are in the twilight of our riding years the cheapos are tempting. Thinking about it when I bent the rear disc on my SV (don't ask) I got a perfectly useable second hand one for £33 from the auction site.

Twilight years might be less than you expect if you have to do a few emergency stops on them :D

I forgot to say that unfortunately Sunstar don't list FJ discs. My fault for riding a prehistoric relic. Oh and the current discs are PFM's at 67,000 miles.

Aftermarket car discs can be purchased at a very reasonable cost, bikes are a no no (not that shaver thing). I would either buy a 2nd hand pair from a reputable(?) breaker or bite the bullet rather than bite the bloke in fronts rear bumper.

I bought a cheap set of discs 2 front 1 rear for my Triumph tiger 955i, genuine triumph would have been over £400, the Chinese ones were £150 delivered to my door, they were a good fit and i never had a problem with them, i put around 22k on them and they were still going strong when i sold the bike, i wouldn't  have a problem going down the cheap route again.
