Guest Silver Hawk
After doing a little routine maintenance and some winter Wax-oiling this morning, I noticed I had two small sharp flint stones stuck in my rear tyre. I dug them both out and neither was bigger then 2 or 3mm but one left a hole. The depth of the hole doesn't appear to be any deeper that the adjacent tread depth, so am I OK or do I need to have something done? If so, what? Link to post
ted 5,759
Not much really, try squirting a bit of rubber solution in there and leave it overnight? Link to post
shiggsy 529
I have pulled plenty of big stones out of my tyres over the years and never had a problem. Link to post
Guest martroy
Not a problem, it just proves how soft modern tyre compounds are. Link to post
wozza 967
I think you'll be fine.. Link to post
Guest hairnet
in the block of the tread itll be fine Link to post
Guest motorboy
I would and have done so stick a small knife blade in the hole till it stops make a mark to the tire remove and measure than measure how deep the thread is and subtract if in the negative remember the tire carcass is about 5mm thick Link to post
Guest chickenflaps
I've ignored larger holes that this and have never had an issue - I'm sure it'll be fine if ignored. Link to post
Guest scrumpymike
+1 - nothing to worry about. Link to post
Rev Ken 6,347
It is only when the structure of the tyre is damaged or cut that there could be a problem. However it sounds as if it isn't deep enough, so I wouldn't worry. Link to post
