Guest Stampa
Hi, I want to adjust my chain for the 1st time, bike has done 2k miles and had 1st service at usual 600 miles. Anyway, please can someone tell me the socket sizes to use, the left hand one is 22mm, but the right is much larger, and I don't have a socket to fit so have to buy one. Thanks for any help received, ps the title should read "Axle" :-) Edited September 8, 2013 by Stampa Link to post

stephenmcg 869
Look in the toolkit. I would expect that there is a spanner of the reqd. size included. There was one for my DV, Transalp, VFR and even Gladius. I have not opened my toolkit yet, but expect to see one. SMcG in Glasgow Link to post
chris 357
The one in the toolkit is a bit lightweight - you need to torque to 72 ft lbs from memory. The toolkit doesn't contain a torque wrench and it's a struggle to get so much torque with the wrench and extension piece in the kit. Better to use a socket and torque wrench to be sure to get it right. Link to post

Guest chickenflaps
you can get a 27mm socket from Halfords. about £5.99 from memory. having used a torque wrench, I agree that you can't use the standard toolkit to get it done up tight enough. good enough to get you home, but a torque wrench seems a necessity.
