Software upgrades for DCT models

My NC700X DCT is very hesitant off the throttle stop. Makes for uneven set off.

Also I find it runs very low revs round town in D and very high revs in S.

I wonder if the new 750 models address these problems.

Maybe there'll be a software update for the old 700cc models?

Anyone know anything? Get back please

Sorry if this is an old topic. I've not been on here for a while.

It sounds like it might be worth trying the "reset" which has been discussed on here. What you describe doesn't sound "normal" for the 700 DCT.

I don't think it has absolutely for definite been confirmed that this "reset" is a specified NC700 routine, but the reports suggest it may well do something. This is the routine I have copied out, I'm not sure where the original post is but thanks to "Old Man" for posting it......

1 - Disconnect battery (negative, earth side) and leave disconnected for 30mins (it isn't definite that it needs to be that long, but that is what the original poster said, and it won't hurt)

2 - turn ignition on for 30sec then off (again not definite if this is necessary but won't hurt)

3 - Reconnect battery.

4 - Start engine WITHOUT using any throttle, and DON'T TOUCH the throttle at all while it's running.

5 - Allow to idle and warm up until the fan starts, typically 15mins.

6 - Stop engine using the kill switch

7 - switch off ignition.

That's it, you can now ride again. Maybe try it and let us know if it does anything.

It's possible something else might be out, a throttle position sensor out of adjustment for example.

Just moticed this is in the "forum help - test messages " section, not the right place really, maybe admin can move it to "service" or similar.

Piers - you are probabljy aware that s mode will generally choose a lower gear round town than D-mode? This will cause the engine to rev higher

Many thanks to Embee

I've not heard of this reset.

Really must keep an eye on this forum more often

I'll try the reset over the weekend and report back.

Yes. I know the S will keep the revs up around town but feel that S rather 'over does' things!!

Saturday morning.

Yesterday I carried out the above recommended 'reset' and went for a test ride.

It worked.

In fact it worked really well. The bike is definitely smoother off the throttle stop at low revs.

Seems to be generally smoother through the box up and down.

So many thanks for that.

I'll file the procedure away for future reference.
