Its 72ft/lbf it's not that high in the grand scheme of things but a lot more than the under seat tool kit should be doing. Link to post

kharli 100
I Think with an oiled axle nut the underseat tool is more than adequate ..I have used it many times and on checking with a torque wrench it has been fine . Its a five minute job adjusting chain with the underseat tools. If un oiled and stiff the tool is strong enough to put your foot on it ..I do assume you know to use another tool slotted into the top of the axle nut spanner to make it longer . . If in doubt I found a good hard pull on the tool = 98nm and i aint particularly strong. Really you need two torque wrenches for diy ..a smaller one for the tappets and gentler bolts . The rocker cover bolts are surprisingly lightly tightened . Chain drives are cheep light and efficient ! 1 Link to post
embee 7,288
As said, 98Nm is not a huge amount. It's big number, but don't let that deceive. If a typical adult male is in the parish of 80kg, that's 800N round figures, so half your weight (400N) on a wrench 0.25m long is the right ballpark. 2 Link to post
TheEnglishman 401
Humph! I'm the proud owner of a 30" 1/2" drive pry bar and a 27mm socket. Half my weight's one foot on the bar, right? I guess if more bought torque wrenches BMW wouldn't have had to do such a massive recall on their rear wheel mounting. 3 Link to post
