djsb 493
I'd like to remove the front wheel to check the bearings and I need a LARGE hex key to remove the axle. Has anyone bought such a tool anywhere? I'm hoping I don't have to buy a Honda "SPECIAL" tool just to remove the front wheel. Thanks. Link to post

Guest robin
You could use a 17mm bolt with a couple of nuts on very tight/welded. Or buy an Allen key. Edited May 17, 2015 by robin Link to post
Derek_Mac 1,404
You'll also find them on Fleabay, search for "Motorcycle front axle tool". They're priced from £6.99 (including postage) upwards. Link to post
Guest Carl_L
I bought a Bergen 10 piece set some time ago. Great quality & a decent price when you look at the price of an individual bit from your favourite high st motor accessories store. Link to post
Solution djsb 493 Posted May 17, 2015 Author Solution Share Posted May 17, 2015 Thanks everyone. I've ordered a 1/2 inch drive 17mm hex bit off that auction site. Link to post
Guest Tibs
I use one that's sold for undoing sump plugs. It's not much more than a short piece of hex bar that you can either pop into a socket or turn with a spanner. Link to post
TheEnglishman 401
Or phone the local metal dealers and scrappies, pop down and rummage through their skips - you might get lucky. Link to post
michael 324
I was delighted to learn my 17 mm hex from my old BMW LT was a perfect fit! Amazing what one finds in the rear most reaches of the tool chest. Link to post
