Guest nibbler
Okay over the couple of days I have noticed my no-tank lock getting a bit stiff and finding the key a little difficult to remove at times. I have put a little WD40 in the barrel to see if that helps but I was wondering if anyone else had experienced the happening? Edited September 21, 2015 by nibbler Link to post
Mikdent 4,070
No, but here's a little tip. Push the lid down before unlocking it, less stress on the mechanism. Ive done this from day one and never had any probs, hope that helps. Link to post
Derek_Mac 1,404
Also, maybe look at your key it might have a very slight twist. A hard flat surface and a very gentle tap with a hammer can cure that. Get a spare key cut (without a chip) and use that for opening the frunk instead of using the expensive Honda chocolate key. Guest nibbler
Thanks guys I'll have a look at the key and look at getting another one cut as I use it everyday. Link to post
aquaboy 105
I always put my wrist on the lid of the "tankartment" before I open it as the lock does need the load taking off Link to post
Spindizzy 7,109
+1 on the spare key. About 3 quid from that auction site. Also I always push it down before releasing, do exactly the same with the pillion seat for filling. Link to post
Guest hirsute1956
What search term did you use for key on that auction site Link to post
Spindizzy 7,109
Honda Motorcycle Key The longer one is obvious and comes in many flavours Link to post

Doubt it. Seems embedded. I would just add the chip part to the keyring, still going to work. 1 Link to post

Mikdent 4,070
When I bought my X I was told that if I lose the original, get a copy and take it them for programming. If you lose both keys then it's £1200 for a replacement ignition! Link to post
Guest Mike T
My frunk lock was changed under warranty; sure this was a honda recall ?? Link to post
Mikdent 4,070
It was a recall, but not for all bikes, mine wasn't recalled for example. Link to post

Guest robin
All locks will get dry and stiff after time. Oil them or fill them with WD40 then turn the key in the lock a few times to get the oil to move around. Link to post
