  1. Have you checked chain slack? Too much slack will result in a clunk... but if in doubt it's better to have 'over-slack' than 'under-slack'

  3. All the bikes i had clunked into first. To somehow lessen it from statonary, try to syncronise the downward push of the gear lever with a tiny forward movement of the bike with your right foot. If you re vertically challenged like me add some momentum with your upper body while pushing with your right foot. Clunking into second is also common although if you re careful enough you ll get a seamless gearchange from first. However, with an unfamiliar bike this may be difficult to achieve. And even when you re familiar, you ll get instances when you ll clunk your way into second gear.

  4. Yes, make sure the chain has enough slack, too tight is much worse than too loose. As a rough guide, when the bike is on the sidestand you should just be able to touch the chain on the rubbing strip on the underside of the swingarm with light finger pressure. Sometimes the brake pads can make a slight squeak if they just touch the disc at one point when you turn the wheel. Try wiggling the caliper side to side a bit to ease the pads back and turn the wheel again, see if it stops. It's worth occasionally cleaning the disc with brake cleaner (available in aerosol, places like Poundla

  5. Hi Akin I had a similar issue when my NC700 Integra wouldn't start. The problem was tarnished connector pins in the connector block which supplies the right hand switches for the kill switch. This stopped the supply of 12V to the kill switch, so even though the switch was physically in the "run" position it had no supply and therefore the fuel pump cut relay was not powered (so the pump didn't run) and the starter would not operate, exactly the same effect as if the switch was in the "off" position. On my bike it was a big blue connector block behind the right side fairing panel. You
